Deutsches Theatermuseum
Documents theater history in Munich, Bavaria and Germany using a wide variety of exhibitions, such as in-character portraits, theater photographs, props, costumes and director’s books. No permanent exhibition but temporary exhibitions that are well worth seeing are staged regularly.

Jüdisches Museum
The first plans were made to build a Jewish museum in Munich as early as 1928; it was opened in 2007. Multifaceted insights into Jewish life, history, art and culture in Munich await visitors on three floors of exhibition space; temporary and changing exhibitions.

Münchner Stadtmuseum
Since June 2008, the permanent exhibition called “Typisch München!” (Typical Munich!) has been illustrating the cultural history of Munich, originally to mark the city’s 850th birthday; also a fashion collection, puppet theater collection, musical instrument collection and film museum as well as interesting temporary exhibitions.

Bayerisches Nationalmuseum

Glyptothek & Antikensammlung
In the Classical Glyptothek, Munich’s oldest museum, you can find an impressive collection of Greek and Roman sculpture such as the famous Barberini Faun. In the Classical collection directly opposite, you can discover treasures of Greek, Roman and Etruscan art, such as jewelry, ceramics and terracotta objects.

Museum Brandhorst
As an architectural pièce de résistance, the Brandhorst Museum takes its place very elegantly in the ensemble of the Munich art scene. It is already a real eye-catcher from the outside, with a polychromatic facade that lets the museum building appear differently, depending on the perspective. In the interior, the works of selected 20th-century artists as well as contemporary art can be found on a total of three floors. All the pieces exhibited here belongto the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Brandhorst, including prominent artists such as Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Franz West and Damien Hirst.

Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus und Kunstbau
The Tuscan-style villa, which is the home of the German portrait painter Franz von Lenbach bequest as well as the unique collection of the Blaue Reiter, is undergoing extensive renovations that are scheduled to last until summer 2012; as a result, it is not open for the public. Temporary exhibitions of Classical modern and contemporary artists are shown in the arts building, a subterranean exhibition hall on the mezzanine of the Königsplatz subway station.
