The musical event series is taking place at various locations in Baden-Württemberg from May 20th to July 28th 2011.
Manager and director Thomas Wördehoff with his team cordially invites you to take part in a exciting expedition -- an "encounter wit the foreign and surprising confrontations with the apparently familiar".
So the program is very varied: musical theatre, concerts, literature, song conversation, recitations, piano evenings, dancing, Jazz and opera asure best entertainment!
The international festival Baden-Württemberg has its origin in 1931 when Wilhelm Krämer founded the „Mozartgemeinde” (Mozart community) Ludwigsburg.
In 1952 eventually the castle concerts, which back then have been scattered all over the year, were united to one festival week in summer time which had the name „Ludwigsburger Schlosstage”.
This concert series is gaining nationally as well as internationally more and more importance. In 1973 for the first time concerts are taking place outside of the castle in Friedenskirche Ludwigsburg and curtly 20 years later the first classical open air is taking part in front of the lake castle Monrepos.
So year by year shows an interesting variety, regarding venues as well as the repertoire.
As different as the venues may be, they all have got the festive and magical ambiance in common.
The baroque Residenzschloss Ludwigsburg (castle) is still main venue.
Alongside the majestic venues there are amongst others the Rittersaal (great hall) of the parish church in Wolfegg, the convent Beuron, the lake castle Monrepos, the palace Grävenitz or the castle church in Haigerloch.
The concert series 2011 is initiated in the panel at the palace garden Ludwigsburg with an inaugural address by the innovative cook and author Vincent Klink.
Amongst others pieces by Strawinsky, Milhaud and Ravel are played under the direction of Christian Muthspiel.
In the following two months there are not only classical presentations taking place.
For example Fritzi Haberland and Norbert Lammert recite the letters of Heinrich von Kleist and Bill Frisell and Sam Anmidon with their guitars will take the guests within the american roots project on a journey to the roots of american folk music.
Furthermore they´ll present gypsy jazz by the Diknu Schneeberger Trio or the play "I invented Karl May" by Thomas Thieme.
The colorful program finally will close with a concert with the works of Beethoven and Christou, as well as the opening concert taking place at the panel in the palace grounds.
Michael Hofstetter, who is principal conductor of the choir and orchestra of the Schlossfestspiele Ludwigsburg since 2005, is undertaking the direction.
