Munich’s sporty citizens

Whether out cycling, Roller-blading, jogging, hiking or skiing, Munich residents are always keeping fit and active. The wide range of leisure opportunities in and around the “metropolis with a heart” leaves them with no other choice! In the summer, as many as 30,000 Roller bladers skate through the city’s streets every Monday as part of Blade Night. And more than 10,000 athletes participate in the annual city marathon. To play soccer, you don’t need to join a club.

Legoland, themeparks, Circus Krone – even families have a wide choice of amusement activities in and around Munich. The Bavaria Filmstudios  in Geiselgasteig south of Munich, for example, are an attraction for children and adults alike. Cinema and TV highlights have been produced here for over 80 years. On the filmstudio tour visitors can watch a spectacular stunt show in the setting of a New York suburb, walk around the village from the film “Asterix and Obelix”, or stroke the lucky dragon from “The Neverending Story.”
